Policy
Lessons are booked from Monday to Saturday,
except for on holidays detailed on the Term Calendars below. Home visits are a
minimum of 1 hour.
A probationary period of one month will be in
effect for new students to determine student/teacher compatibility since it is
important for any student to find the right teacher in order to progress
successfully.
A missed lesson does not
excuse payment.
There are no credits or make-up lessons for
missed lessons. If a student discontinues, the fee for that month is
non-refundable. All other outstanding post-dated cheques or the remainder of
the term will be returned.
In the event that the lesson needs to be
cancelled by the teacher, that lesson will be rescheduled to a mutually
agreeable time.
Requisite Practice Habits
for Optimal Musical Development
A set daily routine is most productive. Set
aside a time of day, everyday, and stick to that time. Seven days a week is
better than five, so a different weekend routine may be in order.
The duration of a practice session should be
not less than 15 minutes. A half-hour is best. For advanced students one hour
per day will become necessary.
Heres a helpful breakdown
of a typical half-hour practice session:
·
Warm-ups
(exercises, scales etc.)
..
...10 minutes
·
Songs
and Pieces
.
.
.
....15 minutes
·
Free
time (review, fun songs, improv. etc.)
..5+ minutes
·
Theory.
..
.depends
on assignment and is separate from practice time
